Securing the Digital Nation

Protecting Digital Public Infrastructure

In late July 2023, a man in Nairobi couldn’t renew his driving licence, a woman in Mombasa couldn’t buy electricity tokens, and a traveller in Europe waited on an e-visa that wasn’t coming. Kenya’s eCitizen platform had been knocked offline by a flood of hostile traffic. No data was stolen — and it barely mattered to the people locked out of their own government.

National ID systems, payment switches, data exchange layers and service portals are now critical infrastructure, usually built fast and defended by teams smaller than the job. This book is about securing them.

FAQ

Questions readers ask

Which security leadership book should I read first?

Start with The Security Executive if you are stepping into a CISO or head-of-security role. Read The Modern Security Leader if you already lead security and want a focused book on crisis and decision-making with AI-driven threats. Read Securing the Digital Nation if you protect government platforms, national ID, payment rails or other digital public infrastructure.

Are these books only for people in Kenya or Africa?

No. The leadership lessons apply anywhere. Judah writes from Nairobi, so many examples — like the July 2023 attack that took Kenya’s eCitizen platform offline — come from African and emerging-market contexts most security books leave out.

Where can I buy the books?

All three are sold on Amazon. The Security Executive is available in Kindle, paperback and hardcover. For bulk or organisational orders in Kenya, email support@jaytechkenya.com or WhatsApp 0792 335 470.
